Overview

The University of Nebraska Lincoln is a public institution, founded in 1869 as a land-grant facility. UNL is an educational institution of international stature, listed by the Carnegie Foundation within the 'Research Universities (very high research activity)' category. UNL is a land-grant university and a member of the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU). The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Programs are offered through the Colleges of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Architecture, Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education and Human Sciences, Engineering, Fine and Performing Arts, Journalism and Mass Communications, and Law; and the Exploratory and Pre-Professonal Advising Center. Its 624-acre campus is located in Lincoln, 55 miles southwest of Omaha.

Mission Statement

As a land-grant university there are three primary missions of the University: teaching, research, and public service. UNL is the state's comprehensive research university and primary intellectual center providing leadership throughout the state through quality education and the generation of new knowledge.
