Founded in 1881, the University of Connecticut serves as the flagship for public higher education and the primary doctoral degree granting public institution in Connecticut. The University is dedicated to excellence demonstrated through national and international recognition. As Connecticut`s public research university, through freedom of academic inquiry and expression, the University creates and disseminates knowledge by means of scholarly and creative achievements, graduate and professional education, and outreach.
