Overview

Queen Mary University of London is one of the UK?s leading research-focused higher education institutions, ranked 13th in the UK in the latest (2008) Research Assessment Exercise. It has more than 17,000 students in 21 academic schools and institutes, within three faculties: Science and Engineering; Humanities and Social Sciences; and the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. With five campuses spanning east and central London and more than 2,000 students studying in China for a joint degree from the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and Queen Mary, its distinctiveness arises from twin commitment to producing international excellence in research and education; and to engagement with its London and Thames Gateway environment through educational outreach and knowledge transfer projects.

Commitment to the idea of the university as a community of scholars, mutually supportive and working both to further knowledge creation and benefit wider society.
