Overview

The establishment of National Research University of Electronic Technology (MIET) in 1965 (as Moscow Institute of Electronic Engineering or MIEE) was aimed at providing the domestic electronic industry with highly qualified specialists. For the time of its existence the University has educated 27 thousand engineers, 1400 doctors and candidates of sciece. Nowadays it is one of the leading universities in Russia educating professionals for working in the field of High-Tech. Campus of 112 thousand sq.m is located in Zelenograd which is a satellite city of Moscow and was established in 60`s as a center of industrial microelectronics. The University has its faculty of about 736 teaching around 3400 undergraduate and 1700 graduate/postgraduate students both domestic and international. Total number of employees is 1740. Micro- and Nanoelectronics and RF Devices and Units are training directions of priority. The academic and R&D activity at the University is focused on micro- and nanoelectronics, RF engineering, biomedical devices, micromechanical, computational and IT systems. The University infrastructure includes experimental and production facilities, that provide superb training conditions for students. In 2013 the National RIA Novosti raiting based on the average mark of full time students admitted to state universities put MIET on the 10th place among the 126 technical universities of Russia.

Mission Statement

In order to rebound the competitiveness of national electronics industry it is necessary to develop university complexes that managed to preserve their high educational and scientific potential, developed up-to-date infrastructure for designing world-class innovative products and that are capable of taking the leadership both in education and in research and innovative activities. The mission of MIET is in its further development as innovative environment for training highly qualified staff, generating and transferring new knowledge into technologies and electronic devices for the needs of national high-tech industries and social sphere.
