Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, erstwhile University of Roorkee, is one of the foremost institutes of national importance in higher education and research in engineering science and technology with a global exposure through productive international linkages. The international linkages, in the year 2013-14, includes visits by 292 scientists, faculty members,officers,students and scholars from abroad for studies, research and intensive training in various disciplines. The Institute has also provided corporate leadership in technology-driven international companies where its alumni are holding coveted positions, notably Senior Vice President and Google Fellow (Dr.Amit Singhal), Microsoft Technical Fellow (Dr.Rakesh Agarwal), President, International Association of Earthquake Engineering (Prof. Sudhir Jain). The Institute offers Bachelor's Degree courses in 11 disciplines of Engineering and Architecture and Postgraduate Degree in 53 disciplines of Engineering, Applied Sciences, Architecture and Planning. The Institute presently has 413 faculty members on its rolls including 05 Distinguished Honorary Professors from other countries and 8045 students that include 6601 UG/PG students and 1444 Ph.D. scholars.
