Overview

The Hebrew University, founded in 1925, is Israels first university. It is a comprehensive institution offering areas of learning and research comparable to the worlds greatest universities. The university has close to 1000 senior faculty members who teach approximately 23,500 Israeli and foreign students at five locations: Mount Scopus, the Edmond J. Safra Campus and Ein Kerem, all in Jerusalem, and at Rehovot and Beit Dagan. It is Israels largest university in terms of total revenue. It is awarded nearly one-third of all competitive research grants in Israel, and its $120 million annual research budget is the largest in the country.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem is to serve the State of Israel by training its scientific, educational and professional leadership; to serve the Jewish people by preserving and expanding the Jewish cultural, spiritual and intellectual heritage; and to serve humanity by expanding the frontiers of knowledge.
