Overview

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is a prominent research university in engineering science & technology. TU/e has 9 departments: Applied Physics; Architecture, Building and Planning; Biomedical Engineering; Chemical Engineering and Chemistry; Electrical Engineering; Industrial Design; Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences; Mathematics and Computer Science; Mechanical Engineering. On top of that, TU/e has selected 3 strategic areas, Health, Energy and Smart Mobility. TU/e offers BSc-, MSc- and PhD-programs, and several professional oriented courses. The PhD-education takes place in 19 national research schools. The success rate is more than 75%. PhD-students get paid, 70% by TU/e, 30% by external research institutes or industry. Furthermore, the region Eindhoven (www.brainport.nl/en) is a technology hotspot. In 2011, Brainport Eindhoven won the ICF-competition of world's smartest region. It spends 8% of GDP on R&D. For example, at a distance of a few miles, the High Tech Campus is located with more than 90 companies and more than 7000 fte R&D.
