The Complutense University of Madrid, in its role as a public institution for higher education, is all about the students, with initiatives to adapt teaching and learning methods to their personal and professional development needs and expectations. The University has a European and International vocation and has designed its educational offering to make it adaptable to students cultural and social realities and the demands of the job market. Through innovation it guarantees a quality education that allows students to realize their full potential in their future professional activities. It has a strong social commitment, and fosters the diverse ways of thinking and expression that defend democratic values. Democracy, transparency and accountability to the university community and society are the cornerstones of its activity. It strives to reduce social inequality through actions that focus on Copperation and social cohesion. The teaching and administrative staff are its greatest asset and the university does its utmost to meet their expectations with a flexible and efficient management system, and by creating an environment suitable for innovation and creativity which encourages teamwork and an interdisciplinary approach. As a public research body, the university conducts internationally recognized basic and applied research to improve the quality of life and to foster both social and cultural development nationally and internationally. Special attention is made to the technical, cultural and economic development of the Community of Madrid. Collaboration agreements exist with a wide number of firms and private and public institutions, as well as with the local, regional and state administrations. In recognition of this, the Ministry of Education and Science has designated the university as a Campus of International Excellence.
